Come and work in beautiful North-West Tasmania. In easy reach of rain forest, the rugged west coast, Cradle Mountain. Close to bush walking, fishing and other outdoor activities. Drive along the stunning coastline on the way to work every day. Melbourne is only a 1 hour flight away and the nearest airport is 15 minutes from the clinic. Tassie is a great place to live and raise a family. Large choice of primary and secondary schools, both private and public. The best of country living with all the amenities of a small city on your door step.

An exciting opportunity exists to join a rapidly expanding practice in north-west Tasmania. We are currently a 2.5 vet practice. Work load is 50% small animal: 50% large animal with a focus on dairy. The practice is fully computerised with offsite access when required. We are well equipped including recently purchased new VetScan biochemistry and haematology machines, BCF Mindray 6 small animal ultrasound, orthopaedics kit with cordless Milwaukee drill, digital x-ray, fluid pumps and fluid warmer. Small animal case load extremely varied. You will get to work up cases that would be referred in the city. For those trickier surgery cases we have a surgeon who visits the clinic. Our 4 nurses are enthusiastic, dedicated and fun-loving.

The farm clients are progressive and friendly – people who will still give you a cuppa and the occasional meal. Farms range from large 1000+ cow dairy herds to hobby blocks. Case load includes calvings, general emergencies, pregnancy testing, reproductive work, lameness and disease and mastitis investigations etc. 2 BCF ultrasounds (one new – which you will use) with BUG googles and wireless screen for pregnancy testing. Scope for increased horse work for someone with the right skill set or desire to upskill.

We are ideally seeking a full-time experienced vet but are happy to consider part time employment. We can accommodate your ideal large:small animal ratio, however you must be able to attend both large and small animal after hours calls. Recent and new graduates are welcome to apply.

Salary starting at $65,000 plus super for a new graduate up to $120,000 for those with the right skill set and 4 or more years’ experience. After hours is 3 in 1 on call and on those very rare occasions that you must do more than this, you will be paid extra per night on call. After hours bonuses may add $7000-12000 to your package and we will pay a retainer of $50 a night. You will be provided with a fully equipped practice vehicle with some personal use permitted.

Early partnership opportunity for the right person. Sponsorship of overseas vet qualified to practice in Australia would be considered. Relocation allowance considered.
