Specialist in Veterinary Radiology

We are  seeking a registered specialist in veterinary radiology to join our friendly team.

About Us

We are a busy, well-equipped, privately-owned, multi-specialist veterinary hospital located on the fringe of Melbourne’s inner-CBD. We maintain a strong emphasis on the standard of patient and client care and is distinguished by the cooperative and complimentary involvement of specialist emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and diagnostic imaging services. The working environment is friendly and constructive, and the caseload moderated to allow emphasis on the quality, rather than the quantity, of patient care.

Existing diagnostic imaging facilities include digital radiography, Phillips Affinity 50G ultrasound, Siemens Somatom 16-slice CT and Phillips BV29 mobile C-arm fluoroscopy with digital subtraction angiography. Beyond this, there is a strong commitment to the continued expansion and advancement of on-site imaging facilities, with PACS system and digital radiography upgrades in process and future plans for high-field MRI installation.

The Position

An opportunity exists for a specialist in diagnostic imaging who enjoys and values integration and positive interaction with specialists in other clinical fields with the intention of optimising patient management. This clinical exposure has the potential to be interesting and rewarding, and the direct involvement of the diagnostic imaging specialist in clinical problem solving is well established, welcomed, and well respected among existing staff of the hospital.

The position involves performing and providing reports for diagnostic ultrasound examinations, the ad hoc provision of diagnostic imaging advice and interpretation to facilitate case management within the hospital, responding to email enquiries from bona fide referring veterinarians for assessment of diagnostic images and, when possible, the provision of written reports for CT studies performed within the hospital.

Further to the clinical aspects of the role, the diagnostic imaging specialist is central in the provision of advice on the purchase and upgrade of diagnostic imaging equipment and the ongoing expansion of existing imaging services. Active involvement in the provision of staff continuing education and contribution to the maintenance of diagnostic imaging protocols would be expected.

The working hours of the position are flexible and negotiable, being either part or full time depending on the availability of the successful applicant, and do not typically involve after-hours work.  An attractive remuneration package would be negotiated, including four weeks’ annual leave and one week of study leave annually (full time pro-rata). Relocation assistance is available for successful interstate or international candidates.
